Paper of the Week 11

“The current paper of the week “Clusters, Convergence, and Economic Performance” by M. Delgado et. al. takes a look at the role of economic clusters in the economic development. Given the current strive to reignite the economic growth, the clusters are the way to go. In emerging markets where the state capture (bribe) is higher the clusters are even more important because can generate both returns in excess of all costs and positive spillovers. I believe that in the case of Romania the way forward to rebuild the country’s growth potential is to come up with clusters with a triumvirate participation: state – foreign private interests – local private interests (an opinion that I expressed in Ziarul Financiar).” Lucian Isar
